NBA Power Rankings: Celtics, Thunder Lead the Charge
The NBA season is in full swing, and the league is already seeing some surprising shakeups. As we approach the halfway point, it's time to take stock of the top teams and see who's making a serious run for the championship. Here's our latest power ranking:
1. Boston Celtics (19-5)
The Celtics are the reigning Eastern Conference Champions, and they look poised to make another deep playoff run. They're led by a dynamic duo in Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, who are playing at an All-Star level. Their defense is also dominant, making them a complete team that can compete with anyone in the league.
2. Oklahoma City Thunder (18-6)
The Thunder are the biggest surprise of the season. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is playing like an MVP candidate, leading the league in scoring. The Thunder have also gotten impressive contributions from young players like Josh Giddey and Jalen Williams. This team is playing with a ton of heart and is a legitimate threat in the Western Conference.
3. Milwaukee Bucks (16-8)
The Bucks are still the team to beat in the East, despite a slower start. Giannis Antetokounmpo remains a dominant force, and the Bucks are rounding into form. Expect them to be a force in the playoffs, as always.
4. Denver Nuggets (17-7)
The Nuggets are led by the reigning MVP, Nikola Jokic. They have a talented supporting cast in Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr., and they're a contender in the Western Conference.
5. Philadelphia 76ers (15-11)
The 76ers are still figuring things out, but Joel Embiid is playing like a MVP candidate. With a healthy James Harden and the addition of De'Anthony Melton, the Sixers have the potential to be a real threat in the East.
6. Dallas Mavericks (15-10)
The Mavericks are a dangerous team, thanks to the incredible play of Luka Doncic. They have a good supporting cast in Kyrie Irving and Tim Hardaway Jr., but they need to improve their defense to reach their full potential.
7. Los Angeles Clippers (15-11)
The Clippers are a force when healthy, but they've been hampered by injuries this season. Kawhi Leonard and Paul George are both playing at a high level, and they'll be a threat once they find consistency.
8. Phoenix Suns (14-11)
The Suns are still a strong team, but they haven't been as dominant as in previous years. They're hoping for a strong second half of the season and are looking to make a deep playoff run.
9. New York Knicks (15-10)
The Knicks have been a pleasant surprise this season. Jalen Brunson has been an excellent addition, and they're playing with a lot of energy.
10. Miami Heat (14-11)
The Heat are always a tough out, but they've struggled with injuries and inconsistency this season. Jimmy Butler is still a force, and they'll be a dangerous opponent in the playoffs.
